MyPillow Review - Is It Right For You?
MyPillow came onto the scene in 2005 and has had an unusual road to success. When founder Mike Lindell struggled to get his product on the market, he took to selling MyPillow at Home and Garden shows and later running infomercials and radio ads. Since then MyPillow has exploded onto the scene and claims to be “The World’s Most Comfortable Pillow”. We’ve tested some pretty amazing pillows so we just had to see how MyPillow stands up to the competition in our review.

MyPillow Construction
MyPillow features a shredded polyurethane foam fill and a 100% cotton cover. The website claims that the pillow will cradle your head and neck perfectly and is naturally cooling, though they don’t offer any details about the science behind the design.
Machine Washable
Though the outer cover is not removable, the entire pillow can be thrown into the washing machine and then dried in the dryer.
MyPillow Options
While MyPillow doesn’t allow you complete customization of the loft size like an adjustable shredded foam pillow, MyPillow does feature 4 different loft sizes. These loft sizes range from very little fill to lots of fill; a fitting guide is available to help you determine which is right for you.
Your sleep position does play a role as well in choosing the right size. In general, stomach sleepers prefer the least fill, back sleepers a medium fill and side sleepers require the most fill so keep that in mind when making your selection.

MyPillow Firmness & Feel
MyPillow does require some set up before making it to the bedroom. Per the instructions, you will need to pop it into the dryer for 15 minutes before using, to plump it up. This really did the trick and brought the pillow springing to life.
I’ll be honest, I am not a fan of the 100% cotton cover, I felt it was a bit itchy and not very soft to the touch. The shredded poly foam has a lumpy feel and reminds one of a bargain pillow I might pick up at Wal-Mart for under $10, so I have a hard time reconciling the price point. That being said, I did find MyPillow to be very comfortable. I’m a combination sleeper and was quite comfortable in all sleep positions throughout the night.

Considering the wild popularity of MyPillow, I wanted to see what customers had to say about it. On Amazon, MyPillow received a 3.4 out of 5, with 25% of those reviewers giving it a 1 star. Customers felt the pillow was lumpy and overpriced for what is was. 47% gave it 5 stars, with customers raving it really is the most comfortable pillow. Many reviewers recommended buying it on Amazon as the price was lower than on the direct site.

MyPillow vs Coop Eden
The Coop Eden features a blend of bamboo derived viscose rayon and polyester. The fill is made from shredded memory foam and is adjustable as well, allowing you to increase or decrease loft size. The outer cover is machine washable, or you can throw the entire pillow into the wash! Like the rest, the Coop Eden is found on Amazon and has a star rating of 4.4.
MyPillow vs Snuggle-Pedic
Snuggle-Pedic features an adjustable shredded memory foam fill for complete customization. The pillow cover is made from a viscose bamboo material that offers excellent breathability and has a luxuriously soft feel. Both the outer cover and the inner pillow can be machine washed and dried. Snuggle-Pedic, like MyPillow, is sold on Amazon and has a star rating of 4.6 for customer satisfaction.

MyPillow vs Casper
The Original Casper pillow features a silky polyester fiber fill, reminiscent of down feathers. Like MyPillow, the cover is 100% cotton, unlike MyPillow it has a percale weave which is super soft, luxurious and cool to the touch. Though not an adjustable fill pillow, Casper does feature an inner and outer pillow allowing you to increase or decrease the loft by adding or removing the inner pillow. The Original Casper Pillow can be found on Amazon as well and has an overall star rating of 3.9.
MyPillow Review Conclusion
There isn’t much information on their website and it seems that MyPillow relies heavily on it’s backstory for branding. I did, however, find MyPillow to be surprisingly comfortable. That being said, I did not feel that the overall material makeup of the pillow warranted the price tag. I think there are other options on the market that are equally comfortable with a much more high-end feel for a similar price point.
MyPillow Might be right for you if:
- You don’t want a memory foam pillow
- We did experience some off-gassing from the pillow after unboxing. This dissipated within the first hour or two
- The shredded foam that it comes with has a medium firmness feel, if you are looking for a soft pillow feel you will likely need to take advantage of Snuggle-Pedic’s free customizations
MyPillow Might Not be for you if:
- You want a luxury feel
- You want adjustable loft sizes, though it can be purchased in 4 different foam fills, once purchased it cannot be adjusted
- If you don’t have access to a dryer be aware that the pillow does not come ready for sleep
