DreamCloud, on the other hand, focuses entirely on hybrid mattresses. Like Nectar, DreamCloud is available in 3 different models: The DreamCloud, the DreamCloud Premier, and the DreamCloud Premier Rest. Similar to Nectar, The DreamCloud is also noted for its ability to relieve pressure, as well as its affordability. So what sets these two mattresses apart? Let’s take a look!

Nectar vs DreamCloud Firmness & Feel

Nectar

Side Sleeper – Thick layers of memory foam provide deep contouring and targeted pressure relief making Nectar an ideal choice for side sleepers. Memory foam mattresses are noted for their ability to melt away pressure points and the Nectar is no exception. This is a particularly good choice for average-weight side sleepers who struggle with hip and shoulder pain.

Lightweight side sleepers may find they don’t exert enough weight to sink deeply into the foam layers. Feeling like they are sleeping on top of the mattress, rather than in it, lightweight side sleepers may not benefit from the pressure-relieving qualities of the Nectar mattress. Instead, we’d recommend taking a look at the Nectar Premier or the Nectar Premier Copper, both of which are designed with even greater pressure relieving materials.

Back Sleeper – Back sleepers should find Nectar firm enough to support a healthy spine, while also experiencing plenty of pressure relief due to the conforming, hug-like feel of the foam layers. This may be especially beneficial if you struggle with back pain while you sleep.

Stomach Sleeper – Nectar has a medium to medium-soft feel that may be too soft for most stomach sleepers. Due to the deep contouring Nectar provides, stomach sleepers may find their hips sinking into the mattress. This can pull the spine out of alignment causing back pain.

Combination Sleeper – Ease of movement is key for combination sleepers! Nectar’s thick memory foam layers can create some sluggishness, this may not be ideal for particularly active sleepers.

DreamCloud

Side Sleeper – The luxury firm feel of the DreamCloud mattress means plenty of relief from painful pressure points without sacrificing support. This could be a good choice for average and heavy-weight side sleepers who crave extra support. That being said, lightweight sleepers and strict side sleepers who prefer a softer bed may find the Nectar mattress a better option!

Back Sleeper – The medium to medium-firm feel of the DreamCloud mattress is best suited to back sleepers. DreamCloud’s hybrid design provides a nice balance between comfort and support, keeping the lumbar lifted, minimizing back pain.

Average, lightweight, and heavy back sleepers should get on with the DreamCloud quite well. That being said, individuals weighing more than 300+ lbs may want to opt for a mattress specifically designed for heavy people, such as the WinkBeds Plus.

Stomach Sleeper – For strict stomach sleepers, DreamCloud may not offer enough support. However, lightweight individuals weighing less than 130 lbs will feel like they are sleeping “on” the mattress; this could indicate enough support to keep their hips from sinking downwards and causing back pain.

Unfortunately, for average and heavy-weight stomach sleepers, the DreamCloud is not likely to provide enough support. We’d recommend a mattress with a firm feel engineered especially for stomach sleepers, such as the Helix Dawn.

Combination Sleeper – DreamCloud is a great choice for combination sleepers. The pocketed coil construction allows sleepers to easily transition from one sleep position to the other throughout the night.

DreamCloud vs Nectar Mattress Performance

Cooling

DreamCloud has the advantage when it comes to sleeping cool. Hybrid mattresses, like DreamCloud, generally outperform memory foam mattresses because of their coil construction, which promotes breathability and airflow.

That being said, Nectar includes gel-infused memory foam layers to help counteract heat buildup. Rather than sleeping cool, Nectar has a temperature-neutral feel. If cooling is a top priority but you still want a memory foam mattress, we’d recommend taking a look at the Nectar Premier Copper mattress.

Edge Support

Hybrid beds tend to outperform memory foam mattresses when it comes to edge support. However, surprisingly Nectar exhibits better than average edge support for an all-foam mattress. DreamCloud demonstrates decent edge support as well.

Both mattresses feel quite spacious as sleepers can successfully sleep near the edge of the bed without fear of falling out. However, both DreamCloud and Nectar suffered when sitting on the edge of the bed. This could be a challenge for seniors, or those with disabilities, who rely on strong edge support to help them get into and out of bed.

Motion Isolation

No one wants to be woken up every time their partner tosses and turns or gets out of bed. Motion isolation, also known as motion transfer, is an indication of how likely you are to feel your partner’s movement.

Nectar is the winner here! The thick foam layers of the Nectar mattress dampen motion transfer leaving light sleepers less prone to sleep disturbances. Hybrid and innerspring mattresses have a disadvantage when it comes to isolating motion. Coil layers provide spring and bounce which can affect your partner when you move about. DreamCloud is made with individually wrapped coils which help to isolate motion, but not quite as well as Nectar.

Mattress Cover – This breathable, moisture-wicking outer layer is made with a poly-blend quilted cover.

Comfort Layer – 3” of Nectar’s Smart Layer with ActiveCool HD foam makes up the comfort layer. This gel-infused foam layer has a slow response feel that provides deep sinkage and body contouring for amazing pressure relief.

Transition Layer – This 2” dynamic support layer offers a quicker response to pressure providing a nice transition between the plush, contouring comfort layer on top and the firmer support layer beneath. Additionally, this layer helps sleepers avoid getting too bogged down into the mattress.

Support Layer – 7” of high-density foam makes up the base layer. This layer lends structure and support to the Nectar mattress.

Shift-Resistant Lower Cover – This keeps your mattress in place, preventing slipping between the bed and the bed frame.

Mattress Cover – The DreamCloud mattress blends quilted foam together with cashmere for a breathable, moisture-wicking, and luxuriously soft mattress cover.

Comfort Layer – High-density memory foam makes up the comfort layer. Providing gentle contouring, this foam layer relieves painful pressure points.

Transition Layer – This layer is made from polyfoam and provides a buffer between your body and the firmer support coils beneath. Designed to help minimize motion transfer, this foam helps reduce excess movement typical with coil mattresses.

Support Layer – Individually wrapped coils reduce motion transfer and improve breathability and airflow.

Stay Put Foam Solid Base Foundation – Situated at the base of DreamCloud, this foam layer lends support to the above layers and ensures that the mattress performs at its best.

Nectar Mattress vs DreamCloud Mattress Summary

All-in-all we really enjoyed reviewing the Nectar and DreamCloud mattresses. That being said, we do feel that they are best suited to different types of sleepers.

While both mattresses are reasonably priced, Nectar is the cheaper of the 2 mattresses. This could be a better option for budget-conscious shoppers. We’d also recommend Nectar for side and back sleepers who enjoy the conforming feeling of memory foam. Lastly, if you struggle with hip or shoulder pain, we think Nectar is an ideal choice.
