Cariloha Resort Mattress Video Review
The Cariloha Resort Bamboo Mattress is a memory foam bed with a 12-inch mattress profile.
- Bamboo mattress cover – Soft, breathable, and cool to the touch this mattress cover boasts all the benefits of bamboo.
- Bamboo Comfort Memory Foam – Breathable and hypoallergenic, this bamboo charcoal memory foam is blended with visco-elastic memory foam for optimal pressure-relief and cooling.
- Advanced Side Wedge Support – Reinforced foam wedge support improves edge support so you can use more of the sleeping surface comfortably.
- Comfort Zone Memory Foam – This gel-infused memory foam layer pulls heat away from the bed assisiting in temperature regulation.
- Transition Response Memory Foam – This natural latex foam layer is hypoallergenic and responsive preventing sleepers from bottoming out on the firmer support layer below.
- Enhanced Flex-Flow Base Foam – A thick layer of supportive foam helps your mattress retain its shape. It’s designed to improve airflow allowing you to sleep cooler through the night.
- Mattress Handles – Not enough mattresses come with mattress handles! So when we come across a mattress that does this is always a standout feature. This allows you to easily move your mattress, making it a great choice for college dorm life or for transient individuals who move around often.
Cariloha uses certiPUR-US certified foams. Foams with this certifications are rated for low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emissions for indoor air quality. This certification ensures that these foams are made without formaldehyde, ozone depleters, mercury, lead, heavy metals, and more.
Firmness & Feel
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest, we rated the Cariloha Resort a 5.5 for medium soft. Made from memory foam, the Cariloha Resort has the typical sink in pressure relief seen with most memory foam beds, but with a quicker response for less of that stuck in the mud feeling.
If you are a side sleeper you likely already understand the importance of pressure relief. One of the biggest complaints side sleepers experience is painful pressure points through the hips and shoulders.
The medium-soft feel of the Cariloha Resort, combined with the classic memory foam feel is best suited to average-weight side sleepers. Lightweight side sleepers may find this mattress a bit too firm for comfort.
The best mattresses for back sleepers evenly distributes weight while offering optimal spinal support. The mattress is zoned to provide targeted relief without comprising support. As such, average-weight back sleepers should also enjoy the Cariloha Resort Bamboo bed. Again, lightweight side sleepers may find this mattress a touch too firm.
The medium-soft feel of the Cariloha Resort mattress is not an ideal fit for stomach sleepers. We did not feel like our hips were adequately supported, this can place undue strain on the lower back. Strict stomach sleepers may wish to consider a firmer mattress such as the Cariloha Classic Bamboo mattress or the Helix Dawn.
Cariloha Resort Mattress Performance
All foam mattresses are prone to sleeping hot but the Cariloha Resort mattress has quite a few built-in cooling features to combat heat retention. First off, bamboo is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking. The bamboo mattress cover is silky soft and cool to the touch.
The comfort layer is made with bamboo charcoal memory foam for better airflow. Charcoal is known for it’s antimicrobial and detoxifying properties which helps keep your mattress fresh and clean for longer, it also enhances the cooling effect of the mattress. A gel-infused memory foam layer further improves cooling benefits.
Overall, we’d say the Cariloha Resort bed does a good job of reducing heat build-up for a temperature-neutral sleep experience.
What is motion isolation and why is it important? Couples will find this an especially important metric when shopping for a new mattress. That’s because better motion isolation translates to a better nights sleep for you and your partner.
Memory foam mattresses tend to eliminate excess motion better than other mattress types. As a result, you’ll be less prone to waking every time your partner tosses and turns. This is especially true for the Cariloha Resort mattress. We experienced minimal motion transfer when moving around.
Couples sharing a smaller mattress will find edge support an especially important consideration. Good edge support allows sleepers to use the full sleeping surface of the mattress without fear of rolling out of bed, while poor edge support can make a bed feel smaller than it actually is.
All-foam mattresses tend to lack decent edge support. However, the Cariloha Resort mattress is made with reinforced high-density support wedges along the side for improved edge support, allowing sleepers to comfortably utilize the entire surface area. Good edge support along with minimal motion transfer make this mattress a great choice for couples.`
As we mentioned earlier, the Cariloha Resort mattress is made with CertiPUR-US certified foams. Mattresses with this certification tend to offer minimal off-gassing. Surprisingly, this was not the case with this mattress. The off-gassing was quite intense and lasted for about 3 days. We have read customer reviews that indicate similar experiences.
Off-gassing is a natural occurring byproduct of polyurethane foams. That being said, the odor should dissipate in a few days. To expedite this process try to leave the bed in a well-ventilated area or crack a window until the smell has passed.

Does Cariloha Work With Any Foundation?
Cariloha is designed to work with any flat, uniformly solid surface. Platforms, adjustable bases, and box springs are all suitable. You’ll want to avoid any foundation with slats greater than 3” apart as this can cause premature sagging of the foams, voiding your mattress warranty.
