Live and Sleep Mattress review
If you could help someone in need and get a great night’s sleep at the same time, wouldn’t you do it? Live and Sleep can help you do this when you purchase a mattress from them. They partner with The National Alliance to End Homelessness and donate a portion of each mattress sale. So getting a good night sleep never felt so good as when you are sleeping on a Live and Sleep mattress. Let’s see if this mattress is as comfortable as it is charitable, in our unbiased Live and Sleep Mattress Review.
Live and Sleep Construction
- Soft Cover: The cover is a breathable stretchy material that will allow it to move with you when you move around on the bed. You can also unzip the cover and wash it which is a feature not always found with today’s mattresses.
- 2.5” Premium Memory Foam: This layer is more responsive than typical memory foam and will allow you to move about the bed without getting stuck. It is also made with open cell technology, meaning it will sleep cooler and be more breathable than other foams.
- 1” Cooling Gel Infused Memory Foam: For added cooling relief, this layer has a cooling gel infused in the foam. It also has more of a slow response to allow you to sink into the mattress and provide pressure relief.
- 8.5” High Density Foam: This is a very dense foam that provides support.
Live and Sleep Mattress uses foams that are CertiPUR-US certified foam. What does that mean for you? The foam will not emit gasses into the air that will pollute the environment and will be safe to breath in when it is unwrapped in your home. Often times mattress companies use formaldehyde, led, heavy metals and mercury in their mattresses. With Live and Sleep you won’t find any of these harmful chemicals in their mattress that can cause cancer.
The way Live and Sleep manufactures their foam is special. They use pressure instead of chemicals to form their foam. This way of manufacturing is eco-friendly and creates a foam that is more consistent than traditional manufacturing methods.
Firmness & Feel
When we first laid on this mattress it seemed a lot softer than what was advertised on the website. For us this is more of a soft than a medium feel. That being said, this mattress will be great for side and back sleepers. The top layer is a soft memory foam so you will immediately feel pressure relief and yet still have support for even distribution of weight.
There was some off gassing when we initially unrolled the mattress however it did dissipate after 36 hours. The great thing is even though there was some off gassing the foam is all CertiPUR-US certified, so it won’t be spilling toxins into the air that could be bad for your health. It took almost 48 hours for the mattress to fully fill out to its original shape before being rolled up for shipment.
The Live and Sleep Mattress, in our opinion, rated at a 4.5 on the softness scale. This is different than what they advertise on their site so if you are looking for a medium or medium to firm mattress this is not for you. However, if you’re looking for a softer mattress that provides lots of pressure relief this will be a great choice.
Most memory foam mattresses do very well in this category and Live and Sleep was one of them. When one of us was moving around we felt very little to no motion transfer.
The mattress is not as thick as some of the other mattresses we have tested and this really effected the edge support. When you sit on the edge of the mattress you feel as if you are sitting on the frame so for us the edge support was lacking.
It can be hard to find a mattress that you love and can afford just by laying on one in a store for a few minutes. That’s why Live and Sleep made their mattress affordable and with a great sleep trial so you can try it in the comfort of your own home. They wanted to create a company that offered an affordable great quality mattress and also give back to those in need.
Depending on the mattress you choose will determine the length of time for the sleep trial. The Classic, which is their least expensive mattress, only has a 30 night trial and you have to keep it for 15 nights before you decide to return it.
The Elite has a 75 night trial and the Luxury has a 100 night trial. Both the Elite and Luxury have a stipulation that you must keep the mattress for 50 nights before returning.
Most mattress companies require some period of time that you must keep it before returning but that is typically less than the 50 nights Live and Sleep requires. If you end up not loving the Live and Sleep Mattress there is no shipping or restocking charge for the return.
Live and Sleep offers a 20 year limited warranty that covers defects and excessive sagging. The warranty will be void if you use a heating blanket or topper, so if you use one of those this mattress might not be for you. 20 years is a little longer than the standard warranty for mattresses. The Elite and Luxury models come with FREE 2 day shipping in the continental US.
The Live and Sleep Mattress is one of the best priced mattresses we have tested so far. A Queen size is $849 and the fact that they also donate to a charity with each purchase is great! If you’re looking for a well-priced quality mattress this might be the way to go.
