Do Purple Mattresses Contain Fiberglass?
When choosing a mattress, safety is a top priority for many shoppers. A common question is whether a mattress contains fiberglass, a material used by some manufacturers as a fire retardant. If you’re specifically wondering about Purple mattresses, here’s what you need to know.
Purple’s Commitment to Fiberglass-Free Mattresses
Purple mattresses do not contain fiberglass. As of 2024, Purple has confirmed that their Essential Collection—which includes the PurpleFlex, Purple, and PurplePlus mattresses—is entirely fiberglass-free. The Restore Hybrid and Rejuvenate Luxe Collection have also been developed with a flame-retardant protocol that avoids harmful, toxic chemicals and fiberglass.
What Fire-Retardant Materials Do Purple Mattresses Use?
While Purple does not specify the exact materials they use for their fire-retardant technology, they emphasize that their mattresses meet safety standards without relying on fiberglass or other potentially harmful chemicals.

Why Is Fiberglass-Free Important?
Choosing a fiberglass-free mattress is important for those concerned about potential health risks. Fiberglass, if exposed, can lead to skin irritation and respiratory issues. By avoiding fiberglass, Purple aligns with a growing demand for safer, non-toxic bedding options.
