Snuggle-Pedic - Best Memory Foam Mattress

Snuggle-Pedic Mattress Review

Chiropractor designed, the Snuggle-Pedic Deluxe Memory Foam mattress stands at 10” thick and provides a balanced medium feel that makes it a great choice for side, back and combination sleepers, as well as some stomach sleepers.

Snuggle-Pedic is also a solid choice for anyone who wants a mattress with cooling benefits! While memory foam can have a tendency to sleep hot, the makers of Snuggle-Pedic found a way to combat this common issue with their patented AirFlow Transfer System. Not only is Snuggle-Pedic more breathable than traditional memory foam mattresses, it simply sleeps cooler.

The Snuggle-Pedic lineup includes 3 models with a Queen Snuggle-Pedic Deluxe Memory Foam mattress priced at $749.99, but if you are really looking to save we suggest checking out Snuggle-Pedic’s Original Hybrid with a price point of $599.99 for a Queen.

Nectar - Best Side Sleeper

Nectar Best Mattress Coupon Code

One of the softer mattresses on the list, Nectar provides a classic memory foam feel. A particularly good option for back and side sleepers, the slow responsive feel of the memory foam provides plenty of contouring and helps to melt away pressure points. If you prefer to sleep “in” the mattress, Nectar might just be the right fit for you.

Nectar also offers one of the longest sleep trials and warranties in the bedding industry. You’ll get a full 365 days to test your new bed before deciding if it is right for you. Nectar mattresses also come with a forever warranty. When it comes to providing value, Nectar packs a punch.

The Original Nectar mattress is priced at $799 for a queen but Nectar frequently runs some sort of discount (see coupon in sidebar).

  • Zoma - Best for Active Lifestyles

    Zoma Mattress Review

At 11” inches thick the Zoma mattress features zoned construction providing targeted pressure relief without sacrificing support, making it a solid choice for back and side sleepers. We also think combination sleepers are sure to enjoy Zoma as the quick responsiveness of the foams allows sleepers to transition easily from one position to another.

What really makes this mattress unique is the top layer of gel-infused memory foam. Consisting of hundreds of triangle-shaped cutouts, the Triangulex layer not only alleviates pressure but increases the breathability of the mattress and helps to regulate temperature. Zoma makes no bones about its audience, it is targeted to athletes and active individuals, but we think it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser amongst a larger audience.

Zoma is priced at $850 for a Queen, but ASL Reviews readers can save an additional 20% with our exclusive discount code: ASL20

  • Brooklyn Signature - Best Hybrid

    Brooklyn Bedding mattress review image

It’s not often that we find a quality hybrid with a price point of under $1,000, but the Brooklyn Signature is just that. Standing at 11” in height and available in 3 different firmnesses: soft, medium, and firm, we think the Brooklyn Signature is versatile enough to suit all sleep positions.

Using a combination of individually wrapped coils and foam, the Brooklyn Signature is a particularly good option for couples and combination sleepers. The quick response of the TitanFlex foam gives combo sleepers the mobility needed to transition from one position to another without getting bogged down or stuck in the foam layers while at the same time working to isolate movement. No more waking up when your partner shifts positions throughout the night!

Additionally, coil mattresses tend to offer good edge support which allows couples to use the full surface of the mattress without fear of rolling out of the bed.

    Ecosa mattress$200 OFF
    Ecosa
  • 3-in-1 mattress design

  • Ecosa - 3-in-1 Design

    Ecosa mattress

What seems a fairly straight forward 3-layer foam mattress takes a twist! Ecosa features a 3-in-1 mattress design where each layer of foam is interchangeable, creating a different surface feel. It comes organized on the softest setting (medium) and can be adjusted to create a medium-firm or firm feel should you choose to reconfigure the layers.

Ecosa also does a great job of regulating temperature; using a combination of open-cell foams and pin-core holes throughout each layer, Ecosa is breathable and temperature neutral. Overall, sleepers may feel like they are resting on top of the mattress, rather than sinking into it, which will also allow you to sleep cooler.

Lastly, parents with children and/or those with fur-babies may really appreciate that Ecosa comes with a machine-washable mattress cover and a waterproof inner cover, making Ecosa easy to maintain and keep clean!

A Queen Ecosa is priced at $730 before discounts.

Saving Money with a Bed in a Box

The first bed in a box was invented in 2007, but it wasn’t until 2014 that Casper made this business model so widely popular. Since then we have seen a massive shift in how beds are sold and delivered, with over a hundred different mattress brands selling almost exclusively online.

This shift from selling at a brick and mortar establishment to selling online meant that bedding brands had a lower overhead cost and therefore could deliver massive savings to the consumer. And while everyone can agree saving money is great, if you are new to the bed in a box concept you may be wondering how you can test out your new bed and what happens if you don’t like it?

    In-Home Sleep Trials

One thing almost every bed in a box has in common is a generous sleep trial. While some bed in a box brands are still sold in retail stores, sleep trials are still the most accurate way of determining if your new bed is the right fit.

If you’ve been sleeping on an old mattress, you may not even realize how much the dips and sags may be pulling your spine out of alignment. Your body needs time to adjust to a new bed and sleep trials provide a risk-free opportunity to adjust to make this adjustment.

While the industry standard normally allows for 90 nights, we have seen some mattresses, such as Nectar, offer as long as a 365 night sleep trial. In addition, shipping for bed in a box mattresses is generally free, as is the return policy. Though we always recommend reading through the fine print for each brand you are considering.

    Why are mattresses so expensive?

We’ve all heard the adage “you get what you pay for” and while this cautionary tale holds some truth, the fact of the matter is, you can find a range of affordable mattresses that provide both durability and comfort. In fact, some of the most comfortable mattresses we’ve tested across all price points are on this list! It is, however, important to know what to look out for and what type of mattress you choose will be a big factor in the final price.

    Foam

Foam mattresses can be built using memory foam, polyfoams or a combination of both, and are among some of the least expensive mattress types available. Known for exceptional contouring, memory foam mattresses, in particular, are widely sought after by those looking to alleviate aches and pain. It is important to note that while foam beds generally come at a lower cost, they can have a shorter life span than latex or adjustable air beds.

    Hybrids

Hybrid mattresses feature a comfort layer of foam or latex which is generally placed over top of coils or springs to create a mattress that balances comfort with support. These mattresses tend to naturally regulate temperature better than foam, as the coils allow for exceptional breathability. Hybrids also tend to be more fun when it comes to extra curricular activities as the coils provide more bounce. Because of the material makeup of hybrids we find that, on average, they run at a slightly higher price point.

    Adjustable Air Beds

Adjustable air beds use air chambers to provide support. These chambers are covered by a comfort layer of foam and connect to an air pump which allows you to adjust the fill of air, controlling the firmness of your bed. For couples who struggle with differing needs, air beds offer the ultimate in customization. Each side of the bed is independently operated eliminating the need for compromise.

Some adjustable air beds feature smart technology to enhance your sleep experience. In general, adjustable air beds are among the most expensive mattresses we review. That being said, unlike foam and hybrid mattresses, most air beds are modular in construction. If something breaks down, you aren’t forced to replace the entire bed. While the initial cost can be quite high, the longer lifespan can make the investment more than worthwhile if you are in a position to front the higher price tag.

    Final Considerations

On average, ⅓ of our lives is spent in bed. When you consider the impact of sleep on our health and happiness, investing in a mattress that will help you achieve quality sleep couldn’t be more important. Once you’ve made your initial investment you can expect your new mattress to last for around 6-10 years; for the affordable beds that made this list, that means an average investment of $100-$150 a year.

Sticking to a budget shouldn’t mean compromising on comfort or sleep quality. All the beds on this list are under $1,000 for a queen before promotional deals or discounts. For even greater savings, bedding bundles are an excellent way to ramp up the discounts. Many of the mattresses we’ve reviewed offer as low as 0% interest financing, if you prefer breaking up your payments over time, this another great option for getting you into the bed of your dreams without breaking the bank.
